Trisha L. SelfDr. Self is the Paul M. Cassat Distinguished Chair and Associate Professor in the Communication Sciences & Disorders Department at Wichita State University (WSU) in Kansas. She teaches courses, supervises, develops programs, and conducts research in the area of ASD. Further, she has 30-plus years of experience working with children demonstrating complex communication needs, including ASD.

At WSU, Dr. Self is committed to helping students at all levels gain the knowledge and skills needed to diagnose and treat children who have or are at risk for language delays and/or disorders. This is evidenced by her efforts to develop and direct a university-based autism interprofessional diagnostic team. This team has been operating for the past six years. Students and faculty from eight different allied-health and education programs participate on this team. This work has been extended to include treatment for young children who demonstrate communication, social, and structured-learning needs. Additionally, efforts are underway to extend these programs into the community by partnering with a local agency who provides infant/toddler services in Kansas.
