Susan Moore, JD, CCC-SLP (Retired), BCS-CL (Retired)

Susan M. Moore, JD, MA, CCC-SLP, is a Clinical Professor Emerita and former Director of Clinical Education and Services at the University of Colorado, Boulder in the Department of Speech Language Hearing Sciences for over 25 of 40 years in the profession. She also holds a faculty appointment in the School of Education and Human Development at University of Colorado Denver and Health Sciences Center, where she currently taught graduate coursework in early language and literacy for the Boulder Journey School. She has developed several online programs and was Director of the Speech Language Pathology Assistant Certification Program, through the SLHS Department. Her areas of research, publication, presentations, and program development include early language and literacy learning, bilingualism, advocacy, culturally responsive, and family centered partnerships and practices for young children and families from culturally, linguistically, and ability diverse backgrounds.

Susan has been author and director of over thirty state and federally funded personnel preparation projects and is a nationally recognized speaker with well over 150 state and national presentations and an active member of many community boards and committees including the CSHA Foundation. She is a Founding Faculty member and contributing author to Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Care (EQIT) currently housed in the Colorado Office of Early Childhood. She has numerous publications and videos regarding early learning, of language, bilingualism, early literacy, professional development, inclusion, and advocacy. Susan’s expertise in child language acquisition, differences, disorders, and her career in teaching and professional development, span two generations of new teacher educators, bilingual SLPs, SLPAs, early childhood specialists, and bilingual providers.

As a community advocate, Susan currently is a member of the Boulder County Early Childhood Advisory Council and is a certified Brazelton Touchpoints Facilitator (Brazelton Touchpoints Institute). She consults with the Colorado Department of Education and provides statewide workshops in assessment of DLLs to Child Find teams and teachers with colleague Clara Pérez-Méndez, Puentes Culturales. Throughout her career, Susan has been an active ASHA volunteer serving for many years on the former ASHA Legislative Council, The Strategic Planning Board, and more recently a board member of  Council for Academic Accreditation. She is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, a Board Recognized Specialist in Child Language and has received numerous recognitions including the Honors of the Colorado State Association given her many contributions to teaching and the profession.
