Nina Capone Singleton, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL

Nina Capone Singleton is an Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at Seton Hall University in Nutley, New Jersey. She has devoted much of her career to understanding word learning and gesture in toddlers, late talkers, and preschoolers. In addition to publishing and presenting her scholarly work, Dr. Capone Singleton is an Associate Editor for Journal of Communication Disorders. She co-wrote a textbook that is in its 3rd edition. Clinically, Dr. Capone Singleton has evaluated and treated children from NICU through 8 years of age. Dr. Capone Singleton is HANEN certified in the More than Words and It Takes Two To Talk programs. Dr. Capone Singleton teaches courses and mentors research at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels related to language development and disorders, and early intervention. Dr. Capone Singleton’s lab currently examines gesturing by preschoolers who speak Mandarin, and how gesturing enriches word use in children with language impairments of varying etiologies.
