Amy K. Peterson, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL
Amy K. Peterson, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, is an assistant professor at the University of Wyoming. She is the director of the Adolescent Language Interventions, Applications, and Strategies (ALIAS) Lab with focus on implementation science research to best support SLPs in using evidence-based practice with adolescents who have DLD. Amy is also particularly interested in advancing intervention research for adolescents with DLD to improve comprehension and expression of ideas through note-taking and oral practice of expository discourse. Prior to earning her PhD in 2022 from Utah State University, she worked as an SLP for eight years. She served children in grades pre-K to grade six with myriad communication needs. Through her clinical practice, Amy realized the need for researcher-practitioner collaborations in serving older students with DLD and was fortunate to have interdisciplinary doctoral training focused on implementation science. Amy is committed to advancing the knowledge about DLD and the lifelong impact of a language disorder through her research, service on journal editorial boards, ASHA committees, and state association leadership, and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels for pre-service SLPs.
